PhD candidate / Postdoctoral fellow

**Job Description**
This position seeks a motivated PhD candidate or Postdoctoral fellow to join a collaborative research program within the VIB-Center for Inflammation Research, specifically with the Guilliams and Saelens teams. The project, supported by an ERC Advanced Grant (2025 – 2030), focuses on applying in vivo CRISPR screens to study the functional specialization of liver macrophages, particularly Kupffer cells. The candidate will utilize and develop single-cell and Spatial CRISPR technologies to unravel causal circuits driving macrophage development and specialization, and their cross-talk with neighboring stromal and endothelial cells. The role involves working within an interdisciplinary team of biomedical, technological, and computational experts, leveraging novel probabilistic deep-learning models for data analysis.

• Bio-engineering
• Medicine
• Molecular biology
• Immunology

**Experience**
Other:
• FELASA certification
• Experience in either immunology or hepatology. Strong interest in both.
