**Job Description**
The Center for Sustainable Soil Sciences (CAES) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher in Agronomy and Soils Sciences. This role focuses on conducting innovative research to evaluate the effect of land uses and agricultural practices on soil carbon storage capacity. Key objectives include developing strategies such as organo-mineral amendment, plant cover installation, and microbial inoculation to increase the sequestration of stable organic matter in soils, and proposing recommendations. The role also involves using practical biological soil health indicators, like soil fauna, to promote sustainable use of agricultural soils in Africa. The area of specialization includes degraded soils, organic matter, organo-mineral amendment, microbial inoculation, plant cover, soil health and quality, soil health indicators, sustainable agriculture, and field experiments monitoring.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Strong knowledge of soil science, soil fertility, and crop production systems in Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan African countries
• Capabilities to set up field experiments and interpret measured data, including statistical methods
• Ability to translate research into high-quality manuscripts for submission
• Demonstrated experience of multidisciplinary research in Agronomy and Soils Sciences
• Strong record of research accomplishments demonstrated by high-quality publications in relevant scientific journals
• Experience in supervising undergraduate/graduate students
• Strong communication skills in English and French, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and the broader scientific community
