**Job Description**
The JMU Optimization & Algorithmic Theory (OAT) Lab is seeking up to four student research assistants to conduct theoretical and computational research on optimization algorithms. Responsibilities include theoretical and/or computational research, programming algorithms, deriving new theoretical results, maintaining meetings with the Principal Investigator, and preparing reports and presentations for conferences or outreach. The role is part-time (up to 20 hours/week) for the Spring semester, with potential for full-time extension in the summer. This grant-funded position is open to degree-seeking students from all majors, valuing cross-disciplinary expertise.

• Knowledge of linear algebra
• Knowledge of calculus (sequences/series)

• Good grades in mathematics (preferred)
• Experience/interest in optimization algorithms (theory and/or implementation) (preferred)
