**Job Description**
The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), specifically the Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine (BMM) department and the lab of Dr. Luis Rodriguez, seeks a senior research assistant. This role’s primary focus is the maintenance and characterization of a transgenic mouse colony used to model pulmonary fibrosis. The position involves a range of in-vivo and in-vitro techniques, supporting research aimed at understanding human disease at the molecular and genomic level.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Rodent handling (including husbandry, breeding, genotyping, colony management)
• General biochemical assays (e.g., western blots, QPCR)
• Tissue culture (e.g., cell passaging, basic phenotype analysis)
• DNA, RNA, and protein extraction
• Gel electrophoresis
• Oral gavage (i.g), intraperitoneal, and intravenous injections
• Aerosolization techniques
• Plethysmography
• Terminal necropsy procedures
• Bronchoalveolar lavage
• Whole lung collection for histology
• Lab organization and inventory management

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Related discipline (BA/BS)

**Experience**
Experience Required:
• 1 year (BA/BS)
Other:
• Previous experience with at least two of the following: rodent handling, general biochemical assays, and/or tissue culture is preferred.
