**Job Description**
This Research Assistant I position in the Hoffman Lab at Loyola University Chicago supports ongoing studies into the neural mechanisms of alcohol use disorder. The role involves multidisciplinary research using behavioral assays in mice, molecular and biochemical techniques, and tissue-based analyses, offering an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to gain neuroscience research experience for future graduate or professional studies.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Prior laboratory experience (coursework or research setting) (preferred)
• Experience with rodent handling and behavioral testing (preferred, training provided)
• Familiarity with molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, protein assays, microscopy) (desirable)
• Strong organizational skills
• Attention to detail
• Willingness to learn new methods
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work courteously in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and established procedures
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, Word, etc.) (required)

• Familiarity with image analysis software (ImageJ/Fiji, Photoshop) (preferred, training provided)
• Familiarity with behavioral tracking software (EthoVision, ANY-maze) (preferred, training provided)
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• High School Diploma
Preferred Degree(s) in:
• Neuroscience
• Biology
• Psychology
• Related field
**Experience**
Experience Required:
• None (HS Diploma)
Other:
• 1-2 years of previous experience (preferred with Bachelor’s Degree)
• Direct animal contact required
