**Job Description**
This short-term Research Associate role supports King’s College London’s strategic commitment to research excellence, medicines governance, and healthcare access. Positioned within Medicines Development, the postholder will ensure the quality assurance of drone-delivered systemic anti-cancer therapies. The role requires expertise in pharmaceutical science, drone piloting, and analytical methods, contributing to pioneering approaches in medicine distribution and safety at the intersection of research innovation and clinical impact. The successful candidate will critically evaluate the stability and integrity of aseptically prepared medicines delivered via drone, managing rigorous quality assurance from planning and flight testing to laboratory analysis and reporting.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Drone pilot’s training or equivalent certification.
• Knowledge of Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and regulatory compliance, including familiarity with guidelines for transporting medicines and writing SOPs and testing protocols.
• Strong data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to correlate environmental data with pharmaceutical stability outcomes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• (Desirable) Experience with environmental monitoring technologies and interpreting temperature, humidity, and vibration data.
• (Desirable) Knowledge of drone flight planning and regulatory frameworks, including understanding airspace regulations and scenario design for drone delivery trials.
• (Desirable) Ability to work across teams in collaborative, interdisciplinary research projects, including pharmaceutical, engineering, and regulatory domains.
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Pharmaceutical Sciences (Ph.D. qualified)
**Experience**
Other:
• Thesis that includes stability testing of drone flown medicines (for Ph.D.).
• Proven ability to work under aseptic conditions, including reconstitution and handling of monoclonal antibodies.
• Hands-on experience with analytical techniques (Proficiency in SEC, DLS, HPLC, and UV spectroscopy for pharmaceutical analysis).
• Proven ability to manage complex logistical operations in research settings, including demonstrated experience in coordinating multi-stage experimental workflows, procurement, sample tracking, and inter-institutional collaboration.
• (Desirable) Track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
• (Desirable) Experience in teaching or mentoring students.
