September 8, 2025

**Job Description**
The Advanced Electron Nanoscopy (GAeN) Group at ICN2 is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher for the NEXPECH₂ project, a European initiative focused on developing innovative, sustainable energy solutions through green hydrogen generation via solar-driven photoelectrochemical (PEC) systems. The role involves applying advanced electron microscopy techniques, including STEM and FIB, to investigate the structure and behavior of catalytic nanomaterials vital for green hydrogen and energy technologies. Responsibilities include designing and performing real-time in-situ TEM experiments in gas and liquid sample environments to mimic actual operating conditions, analyzing materials from project partners, and providing insights to optimize device performance in sustainability and energy fields.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Deep expertise in electron microscopy, particularly STEM and FIB methods.
• Proven experience in designing and conducting in-situ TEM experiments.
• Familiarity with energy-related nanomaterials and catalysis is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative international team.
• Excellent communication skills to support project partners effectively and contribute to scientific discussions and reporting.
• Adaptability, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude toward research challenges.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Chemistry
• Physics
• Material Science
• Closely related fields (with a strong focus on nanomaterials and advanced characterization techniques)

**Experience**
Other:
• Previous research experience in an academic or industrial setting involving advanced transmission electron microscopy for energy materials or catalysis.
• Skills on in-situ TEM (a plus).
• Experience collaborating in international, multidisciplinary projects (a plus).
• Hands-on experience working with large-scale research infrastructures, such as synchrotrons (an advantage).
