**Job Description**
This postdoctoral fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Physiology focuses on investigating the effects of high-salt diets on kidney metabolism, energy production, and oxygen utilization in both normal and salt-sensitive hypertension. Fellows will create and follow an individualized development plan, conduct research studies, attend required courses and seminars, write grants, publish manuscripts, present findings locally and nationally, and develop skills necessary for a successful career in cardiovascular research or a closely related field.

• Scientific expertise including training in ex vivo / in situ techniques of physiological recording of renal hemodynamics and blood pressure regulation, kidney tubular transport function, and kidney histology.
• Demonstrated expertise in advanced surgical approaches in rodents, including arterial placement of radio telemetric pressure probes, implantation of indwelling vascular catheters, and both acute and chronic studies of instrumented rodents.
• Expertise in molecular techniques including RNA sequencing, analysis of proteins and enzymes, and histological analysis including immunohistochemical techniques.
• Technical expertise in computer databases and statistical analyses.
• Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken English, with a special emphasis on technical writing.
• Ability to work well in a collaborative research team.
**Qualifications**

• Scientific field
• MD

• Formal training in nephrology and kidney physiology.
