**Job Description**
We are seeking a driven and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join an innovative, British Heart Foundation-funded research project focused on cardioprotection during radiotherapy for cancer. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of cardio-oncology science, utilizing sophisticated small animal radiation models, single-cell transcriptomics, and state-of-the-art echocardiography. The successful candidate will join a collaborative, interdisciplinary team under the supervision of Dr Gerard Walls, applying hybrid approaches to answer important research questions directly related to holistic cancer care. The project involves using various wildtype, co-morbidity, and tumour models to generate preliminary data for a novel cardiac radio-protecting drug, combining functional, histopathological, transcriptomic, and cytokine analyses, with validation work conducted in collaboration with partners at Washington University in St Louis.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Strong experience in mouse models
• Background in either radiation or cardiovascular science
• Capability to lead pioneering cardio-oncology research projects
• Previous track record of high-quality research in radiation biology or cardiovascular science
• Substantial recent experience of in vivo murine phenotyping
• Experience in standard biomedical laboratory techniques, including tissue culture and immunohistochemistry
• Published paper(s) in quality journals commensurate with research experience
• Passion for collaborative research

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Molecular biology
• Cell biology
• Pharmacology
• Related area of biomedicine (Ph.D. must be obtained within 3 months of commencing this post)
