**Job Description**
The Department of Cardiac Surgery at Michigan Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Scientist to join the Thoracic Aorta Research Lab at the North Campus Research Complex (NCRC). The research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying aortic aneurysm and valve disease. Utilizing approaches such as stem cell biology, gene editing, bioengineered human vascular grafts, and animal model studies, the lab aims to gain mechanistic insights into disease pathologies and develop treatment strategies. The Thoracic Aorta Research Lab unites surgeons and researchers to develop novel approaches addressing clinical needs in human aortic research and surgical intervention, seeking to improve surgical outcomes for thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection. Translational research involves human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC), gene editing, tissue-engineered blood vessels, and functional genomics.
