**Job Description**
The Institute of Biosciences and Technology (IBT) of Texas A&M Health Science Center is seeking highly skilled and motivated postdoctoral candidates to join the laboratory of Dr. Julian Hurdle to pursue interdisciplinary research in host pathogen interactions and therapeutic discovery. The Hurdle lab conducts research in antibiotic resistance mechanisms from patient samples, collaborative discovery of anti-infective therapeutics, and bacterial pathogenesis. This position offers broad training to develop independent, highly motivated scientists in an outstanding collaborative environment that integrates basic and translational sciences. The successful candidate will conduct high-quality research focused on mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of gastrointestinal diseases, utilizing advanced techniques in microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, multi-omics, and animal models of disease. This role provides an excellent opportunity to engage in innovative research, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and develop a comprehensive understanding of gastrointestinal microbiology, pathogenesis, and drug discovery.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Expertise in molecular genetics, protein biochemistry, and animal models (highly preferred).
• Literate in the English language and able to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills in English.
• Proficient in standard molecular biology laboratory techniques, such as RT-qPCR, Western blotting, tissue culture, immunoprecipitations, ELISA, tissue staining, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry.
