**Job Description**
One postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Yang He’s Laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine, focusing on unraveling the mechanisms by which the central nervous system orchestrates systemic energy balance to develop therapies for obesity and metabolic disorders. The research delves into fundamental neural processes influencing eating behavior, energy expenditure, physical activity, and glucose metabolism, all critical for metabolic health. The team seeks to identify novel neural mechanisms controlling energy homeostasis using various molecular, genetic, and viral approaches, including in vitro electrophysiology, in vivo calcium imaging, viral gene delivery, opto- and chemical genetics, pharmacology, transgenic rodents, molecular/cellular neurobiology, omics (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics), and biochemistry.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Patch-clamp electrophysiology
• Rodent behavior study
• RNA-sequencing
• Proteomics
• Multi-omics studies
• Excellent written/oral communication skills
• Organizational skills

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Ph.D. / MD (Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field)

**Experience**
Experience Required:
• No experience required
Other:
• Prior experience in RNA-sequencing, proteomics, or metabolomics studies (Preferred)
• Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related field with prior experience in studying neural regulation of systemic metabolism (Preferred)
• Prior experience in frequently used techniques in neuroscience research, such as in vitro electrophysiology, in vivo calcium imaging, viral gene delivery, opto- and chemical genetic and pharmacological methods, transgenic rodents, etc. (Preferred)
