Postdoctoral Associate

**Job Description**
The Water Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks a Postdoctoral Associate to work on membrane surface patterning for water treatment applications. This role involves leading an innovative project focused on developing hybrid processes for recovering minerals from desalination reject brine. The successful candidate will work at both lab and pilot scales to develop and test innovative membrane materials, adsorption processes, ion exchange, and solvent extraction, ultimately creating hybrid systems to reduce environmental impacts of desalination waste streams while recovering economically important minerals.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of membrane fabrication and characterization.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of desalination and other water treatment processes, including working at both the bench and pilot scale.
• Experience in assessment of environmental impacts of processes, such as life cycle analysis (desirable).
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Chemical or Process Engineering
• Environmental Engineering
• Materials Science & Engineering
• Related field

**Experience**
Other:
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of membrane fabrication and characterization.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of desalination and other water treatment processes, including working at both the bench and pilot scale.
• Demonstrated history of peer-reviewed publications in a related area (preferred).
• Prior expertise in materials science and environmental chemistry (preferred).
