**Job Description**
This Postdoctoral Appointee position in the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division at Argonne National Laboratory focuses on cutting-edge research in catalysis. The role involves mechanistic investigation of surface effects in non-traditional catalyst systems, encompassing the design, synthesis, and characterization of well-defined complexes, detailed in situ/operando studies, and the manipulation of catalyst properties and reaction outcomes.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Experience in the synthesis and evaluation of molecular and/or heterogeneous catalysts
• Strong understanding of kinetics and thermodynamics as applied to catalysis
• Knowledge of and experimental expertise in synthesis and characterization of highly air-sensitive catalyst materials
• Experience with the design and construction of batch and flow reactors for catalysis
• Proficiency with analytical techniques such as X-ray absorption spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, infrared and ultraviolet spectroscopy, as well as experience with high resolution STEM imaging
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Organic, organometallic, or inorganic chemistry
• Related field
