**Job Description**
This Postdoc position focuses on the large-scale and in-depth characterization of optimized Channelrhodopsin variants for basic neuroscience research and future optogenetic therapies. Key responsibilities include automated and manual patch-clamp experiments, high-throughput spinning disc confocal microscopy, and data analysis. The role offers the chance to contribute to the development of future optogenetic therapies, particularly the optical cochlear implant, within a highly innovative and multi-disciplinary research environment.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Proficiency in structural biology and/or bioinformatics and/or data-driven protein design
• Skills in data analysis with Python
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
• The ability to work in an interdisciplinary and international team of researchers
**Experience**
Other:
• Strong background in the (electrophysiological) characterization of membrane transport proteins
• Experience with basic molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning etc.)
• Preferably knowledge in the characterization of microbial rhodopsins
