**Job Description**
A PhD position is available within the highly competitive, interdisciplinary MICRO-PATH Doctoral Training Programme, funded by the Luxembourg National Research Fund. This program, focusing on Pathogenesis in the Age of the Microbiome, addresses research questions on causal and mechanistic studies of microbiome-mediated pathogenesis by bridging microbiology and big data analytics. The vision is to establish the microbiome as a therapeutic and preventative target for chronic diseases, including neurodegenerative conditions like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The successful candidate will join the Physics of Living Matter Group at DPHYMS, working on the biophysics of host-pathogen interactions using in vitro model systems, with ample collaborative opportunities within the MICRO-PATH consortium and other institutions in Luxembourg. The student will be enrolled in the Doctoral School in Science and Engineering at the University of Luxembourg.
