**Job Description**
The Technische Universität Ilmenau offers a Ph.D. position within the DFG Priority Program SPP 2477 “Nitrides4Future – Novel Materials and Device Concepts,” specifically in a joint sub-project with Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg titled “Exploring the upper limits of piezoelectric polarization in ternary metal nitrides.” The role focuses on the MBE growth of [(Sc,Y,La),(Al,Ga,In)]N and their experimental investigation concerning structural, elastic, and electronic properties, as well as long-term stability. The position is intended to promote the candidate’s academic qualifications, starting from 2026-01-01.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Good written and spoken English skills
• Solid knowledge of solid-state (semiconductor) physics
• Good knowledge in surface science
• Experience in epitaxy and surface science methods
• Basic knowledge in German
• Independent, structured, and goal-oriented working style
