**Job Description**
This self-funded PhD opportunity focuses on assured multi-sensor localisation within 6G terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks (TN-NTN). The project aims to combine GNSS positioning, inertial systems, and vision-based sensors to achieve resilient, high-accuracy positioning, addressing the vulnerability of GNSS-reliant systems to interference or outages, especially in dense urban environments. Research will involve designing a localisation/positioning framework that leverages signals from terrestrial base stations, non-terrestrial networks (LEO, MEO, GEO constellations), and on-board sensors. A strong emphasis will be placed on developing algorithms for robust multi-sensor fusion and positioning assurance, aiming for improved accuracy and quantifiable resilience in diverse challenging environments. The project’s outcomes will include a novel localisation framework, TN-NTN-assisted localisation algorithms, and fusion tools for integrity monitoring, supporting assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) solutions for autonomous vehicles, aerial systems, and critical infrastructure.
