**Job Description**
Successful candidates will join the interdisciplinary FINATRAX Research Group, which integrates business research and information systems engineering to study the impact of digital technologies on organizations. The team comprises international researchers focusing on sustainable technologies with positive societal impact. The selected candidate will enroll in a Ph.D. program in Computer Science and Computer Engineering with a specialization in Information Systems. Under Prof. Fridgen’s PayPal-FNR PEARL Research Grant and the FutureFinTech National Centre of Excellence in Research and Innovation, the candidate will conduct research on crypto-asset transaction analysis. This project is at the intersection of data science, blockchain technology, and financial crime prevention, specifically addressing Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism. The research aims to enhance the detection of illicit activities in decentralized crypto-asset networks using blockchain analytics and data engineering, employing techniques such as machine learning, graph-based network analysis, and synthetic data generation to tackle challenges in anomaly detection, transaction classification, and label scarcity.
