**Job Description**
Applications are invited for an experienced researcher to join a national study on coastal communities and creative health, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. The project focuses on three coastal areas in England (Blackpool, Hastings, Weston-Super-Mare) addressing young people’s mental health, substance use, and serious illness/bereavement. The project aims to generate evidence and resources to improve mental health, enhance skills of community workers, and create collaborative models using community assets to tackle inequalities in coastal towns. The researcher will play a key role in project management, ethics applications, collaborating with partners in Hastings, data collection using creative methods, drafting funder reports and publications, and participating in team meetings.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Sufficient, up-to-date breadth or depth of coastal communities and related health and social inequalities impacting communities in the southeast region, specifically Hastings and its surrounding areas
• Experienced in using creative qualitative research methods
• Experience of working closely with voluntary sector organisations (VSOs) in Hastings and nearby areas to recruit participants
• Experience of working directly with Local Authorities in the southeast region on topics relating to coastal inequalities and deprivation
• Excellent organisational skills
• Ability to complete project deliverables on time and adhere to project deadlines
• Competent IT skills including use of reference management software, Microsoft Office, and qualitative data management software such as NVivo
• Able to work regularly in-person in Hastings and its surrounding areas
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Public Health
• Related discipline (e.g., Public Health Nutrition, Health Promotion)
Other:
• Ideally a postgraduate qualification/Ph.D or an equivalent level of professional research experience (desirable)
