September 13, 2025

**Job Description**
The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Central Michigan University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Earth System Modeling & Precipitation Extremes for a one-year appointment, with potential for renewal. The fellow will join a team investigating climate resiliency and severe storms within the Building Predictive Capacity to Enhance Stormwater Infrastructure and Flood Resilience project. This project aims to provide Michigan communities with relevant information, data, and tools to enhance resilience to hydrological hazards, focusing on three pilot watersheds. The work involves using statistical and dynamical downscaling of near-term climate model projections, developing local precipitation models to simulate future flood risks, and incorporating lake processes using the DOE COMPASS-GLM coupled system. Analysis will include extreme value and non-stationary statistical methods, with engagement of community partners.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Experience working with climate model data.
• Modeling using the Weather Research and Forecasting platform.
• Statistical analysis.
• High-performance computing.
• Interest in developing community relevant projections.
• Ability to carry out research responsibilities with limited guidance.
• Excellent written and oral communication (preferred).

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
