**Job Description**
The Power System Resilience (PSR) Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct R&D in electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation, software development, dynamic and transient inverter modeling, and various simulation applications. This role supports the Department of Energy’s mission in enhancing energy security and grid resilience through advanced modeling, simulation, and real-time monitoring of power grids. The associate is expected to perform independent research, prepare scientific publications, and present findings to sponsors and at conferences.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Expertise in power systems and power electronics.
• Experience in C/C++, Matlab, and Python programming.
• Experience in power systems software like PSCAD, PSS/e.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills (Preferred).
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and participate creatively in collaborative teams (Preferred).
• Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever-changing needs (Preferred).
• Experience in real-time simulation hardware like Opal-RT and RTDS (Preferred).
• Experience with software development (Preferred).
• Experience with use of GPUs, multi-core CPUs, and advanced computing (e.g., QPUs) (Preferred).

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Electrical Engineering
• Related discipline

**Experience**
Other:
• Ph.D. degree completed within the last five years.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card, or a favorable Local Site Specific Only (LSSO) risk determination for foreign nationals who have not resided in the U.S. for three consecutive years.
