**Job Description**
A postdoctoral research scientist position is immediately available in the automated science laboratory at Carnegie Mellon University. The primary focus of this role is the synthesis and characterization of polyurethane materials within a self-driving laboratory environment. The successful candidate will primarily work on understanding the structure-property relationships of polymeric materials, with an emphasis on optimizing mechanical properties, and will be responsible for building and executing projects within the lab’s research program through collaboration with the PI and group members.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Hands on experience with lab automation.
• Advanced skill level in solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
• Thorough understanding of chemical kinetics.
• Experience with chemical characterization using NMR, FTIR, and GPC.
• Strong publication record and effective communication skills.
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Chemistry
• Materials Science
• Polymer Science
• Relevant field (with relevant research experience)
**Experience**
Other:
• Relevant research experience in polymer synthesis and molecular characterization.
