**Job Description**
This role focuses on investigating the mineralogy, geochemistry, and microbiology of carbonatite weathered zones and their implications for Rare Earth Element (REE) resources as part of the NERC-funded ‘SCREED’ project. The Research Fellow will utilize advanced geochemical and genomic laboratory techniques, collaborating with internal and external partners.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Experience of relevant analytical techniques.
• Experience of analytical techniques including one or more of XRD, XRF, ICP-MS, XPS, U-Th-He geochronology or soil biota (meta)genomics.
• Sufficient, up to date breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline.
• Knowledge of research methods and techniques.
• Commitment to engage in continuous professional development.
• Experience with X-ray absorption spectroscopy (advantage).

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Geochemistry (implied)
• Earth Sciences (implied)
• Environmental Science (implied)

**Experience**
Other:
• Have, or be near to completing, a Ph.D.
• Experience of relevant analytical techniques.
