**Job Description**
The Center on International Cooperation (CIC) at New York University seeks a Program Officer (Researcher) to independently produce high-quality research under the supervision of the Program Director, Justice, Inclusion and Equality, or senior program staff. The role involves taking a lead in developing and drafting reports, fact sheets, project proposals, and other publications. The Program Officer will also develop programmatic objectives and strategies, manage aspects of program development and implementation, problem-solve, maintain research networks, and identify new knowledge frontiers and funding sources. The position requires conceiving innovative approaches to engage stakeholders, particularly governmental representatives, and independently organizing high-level events and managing workflows.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Deep understanding of inequality, exclusion, and their intersections with SDG16+, including familiarity with global policy debates, innovative approaches, and evidence-based strategies to reduce inequality and promote inclusive governance.
• Proven experience in designing and delivering program or research on inequality and exclusion, with demonstrated ability to translate complex evidence into actionable policy recommendations.
• Additional experience with relevant research and practice in the areas of multilateral reform and the promotion of peace, justice and inclusion is considered an asset.
• Experience in managing relations with high-level government counterparts, senior UN staff and civil society representatives.
• Experience in research, writing and analysis; experience with literature reviews.
• Experience in planning, scheduling, and organizing meetings, including high-level meetings.
• Drafting and preparing briefing notes and records of high-level meetings.
• Experience providing support to senior managers/directors and high-level officials.
• Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills, demonstrated strong collaboration skills, and high level of discretion in dealing with confidential information.
• Previous experience working in culturally diverse settings or international organizations.
• Demonstrable evidence of leading research projects, including on research design, execution, and write-up.
• Demonstrable evidence of successful experience managing programs, including design, budgeting, reporting, and other administrative tasks.
• A proclivity for problem-solving and interest in finding solutions, a professional and team-player attitude, working respectfully and productively with colleagues, both within and across teams, with a positive approach and a growth mindset.
• Ability to undertake travel, including under sometimes challenging circumstances.
• Takes accountability for all aspects of assigned work and proactively seeks out guidance where needed.
• Fluency in English and another UN language (required).
• Excellent time management and organization skills.
• Ability to perform under minimal supervision and adapt.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to negotiate solutions and problem-solve; high degree of initiative, reliability, and resourcefulness.
• Demonstrate sound judgment, and ability to make time-sensitive decisions and take appropriate action.
• Good understanding of protocol working with UN senior officials, Ambassadors, and senior government officials.
• High level of proficiency in office technology including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Dropbox, and Slack.
• Well-versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Related field (Master’s Degree)

• 7 or more years of relevant work experience working with governments and the UN system.

• Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
• Experience working within the non-government sector and other multilateral global organizations is desirable.
• Experience in or knowledge of CIC research areas, particularly on issues related to inequality, as well as knowledge of/experience with national and subnational governments, the United Nations, and other multilateral organizations (preferred).
• Experience in working with different types of stakeholders and at different levels (preferred).
• Experience in conveying complicated, nuanced and substantive research, policy work and programmatic priorities to partners and diverse stakeholder groups (preferred).
• A history of prioritizing across a wide range of assignments and consistently delivering at a high level of quality in high pressure, fast-paced environments (preferred).
