**Job Description**
This Postdoctoral Researcher position focuses on systematically characterizing and validating microbiome-borne virulence factors (VFs) implicated in human diseases, with a particular emphasis on cancer. The project employs a triptych approach utilizing in silico, in vitro, and in vivo methods to expand current knowledge regarding the infective competence and functional role of the human microbiome in health and disease. This FNR-funded project involves collaboration with Prof. Paul Wilmes at UL, Rob Finn at EMBL-EBI (UK) for computational identification, and Kim Remans at EMBL (Germany) for protein generation, while the MDM group at UL is responsible for experimental validation and mechanistic investigation using relevant in vitro and in vivo cancer models.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Proficiency in cell culture techniques, ideally including 3D cell culture models (e.g., organoids, spheroids)
• Experience working with purified proteins and performing related assays
• Experience in conducting animal (in vivo) experiments is an advantage
• Competence in molecular biology techniques such as real-time PCR, FACS analysis, and Western blotting
• Experience with imaging techniques is considered an advantage
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency in written and spoken English

• Related discipline
