**Job Description**
This role involves building, deploying, and maintaining automated soil frost sensing systems using HOBO pressure sensors within the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest. Responsibilities include weekly site visits to collect manual frost tube data for comparison, troubleshooting sensors for malfunctions, and performing data analysis to compare automated and manual measurements. The position requires working independently in remote, harsh winter conditions.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Experience building, installing, and maintaining automated soil sensor installations in remote field settings.
• Skills in maintenance and repair of automated electronic sensors.
• Experience with shop tasks such as carpentry, plumbing, and remote power supply.
• Previous experience with Onset Hobo sensors (preferred).
• Ability to work independently in a remote field setting, occasionally carrying heavy loads, while maintaining a safe working environment.
• Comfortable preparing for and working in harsh winter conditions.
• Experience with quality assurance and quality control of automated soils data (helpful).
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Master’s Degree with project work involving soil science or related field work

• Forest Service Snowmobile Operators Certification
