**Job Description**
This Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Argonne National Laboratory supports the institution’s mission to advance critical material technologies and address societal needs for water and energy resources. The role focuses on bridging research and real-world applications within electrochemical separation technologies, particularly for critical material recovery and long-term electrode durability. The successful candidate will develop capacitive deionization systems, investigate electrode aging, and integrate experimental findings with system-level analysis, collaborating with interdisciplinary research teams, universities, industry, and national laboratory partners.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Demonstrated understanding of electrochemical separation processes and principles.
• Hands-on experience in experimental system design, instrumentation, and automation.
• Knowledge and experience with analytical techniques (e.g., chromatography, spectroscopy, microscopy).
• Experience with electrochemical techniques (e.g., CV, EIS, charge/discharge).
• Ability to develop independent research projects.
• Problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify technical challenges, develop innovative solutions, and implement practical strategies.
• Skilled communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Chemical Engineering
• Materials Science and Engineering
• Environmental Engineering
• A related field
**Experience**
Experience Required:
• 0-2 years post-PhD
Other:
• Demonstrated through publication of peer-reviewed literature.
• Ability to obtain government access authorization.
• Subject to particular restrictions related to participation in Foreign Government Sponsored or Affiliated Activities.
