**Job Description**
Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Research & Analysis (MEERA) Group. The role involves supporting research in life cycle energy impacts analysis, techno-economic analysis, and industrial energy efficiency analysis under the Strategic Analysis and Industrial Energy Efficiency Programs. The successful candidate will contribute to a multi-laboratory DOE Geothermal Technologies Office (GTO) project focusing on developing an independent, objective, and publicly available geothermal well life cycle assessment analysis, aiming to improve well value, reduce costs, enhance productivity, and mitigate risks.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Quantitative and analytical research background applicable to geothermal well development and other advanced energy technologies.
• Ability to develop optimization and life cycle models analyzing advanced energy technologies.
• Strong analytical capabilities with experience in life cycle energy and cost assessments for technology assessments.
• Educational background in sustainable manufacturing technologies with an emphasis on life cycle research (Preferred).
• Experience in manufacturing process or energy systems modeling (Preferred).
• Proficiency in industry standard modeling and simulation tools (e.g., spreadsheet-based process cost modeling, input/output modeling, SimaPro, openLCA) (Preferred).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills (Preferred).
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and participate creatively in collaborative teams (Preferred).
• Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs (Preferred).
